PSA: Incoming Issue on Windows: Signal ist now per default invisible to Sunshine due to Recall. Other apps might follow.

since like a month Signal on Windows got an update that activates per default a setting that makes Signal invisible to recording software. This was done as a reaction to windows recording the screen for its "Recall" feature in order to protect privacy.
This affects however Sunshine as it uses the same mechanism and now Sunshine can not see Signal anymore unless you deacticate this setting in signal under Settings->privacy->screen security

This is "bad" also as Signal is still on screen and accepts input but is invisible.. therefore it blocks an area of the screen but you can not see which app it is or directly interact with it. So when you log into a computer with sunshine you can not turn it off.

I think more apps will follow this idea as recall is now being rolled out on windows

If an programs blocks being recorded, then it can't be recorded... nothing we can do about it.

its as you say. i was thinking more in the sense of having an entry in the documentation about it. else you might have several issues about missing programs or blocked screen areas.

i myself thought it was sunshines "fault" for like a week.

as i feared, more apps are disabling screen capture by default.

I dont even have recall enabled.

the difficulty comes from you updating your apps and suddenly some app is now invisible: it blocks the screen but sunsine does not see it.

you have to physically go to your server turn on and disable that feature, which is annoying if my server is in another place than where i am at. like if you are traveling or live somehwere else..

If you know about this its very annoying.. but someone who does not know might just think the computer froze or something..

This feature can be disabled during installation or via the Performance/Driver Configuration settings

ONLY disable if you know what you are doing and why
