Hey @mfidemraizer do you still use this library? Is there a better alternative now and that's why it hasn't been updated? We were hoping for something that might be distributed as a nuget package? Appreciate your thoughts here.

I believe that this library should be still relevant, but I've never used it anymore. After reviewing the code, it seems like I forgot to push IRedisCommandHandler back in the day! I don't even remember where I implemented this project...

IRedisCommandHandler should be easy to "recover". It's just coding the interface based on its implementation.

Back in the day I implemented this to automatize compression/decompression of Redis values and leave application code agnostic from this concern.

In addition, it mighn't be an alternative.

@paladinu Now I've remember how it was everything.

StackExchange.Redis.Compression was part of some proposal via pull request on StackExchange.Redis. The whole IRedisCommandHandler is still alive in the pull request. This interface and some integrated code in StackExchange.Redis codebase was what I built as the infrastructure to implement add-ons like StackExchange.Redis.Compression.

My point was trying to get the idea officialy merged into StackExchange.Redis, but finally it wasn't accepted.

Thanks much for taking the time to respond! I like this solution because it can be put into action though impacting existing cache. I will probably try to implement something similar. I think you are right that it is a shame that they don't have something like this built into the framework. I also understand the concern about being dependent on specific value content. Oh well, at least you have provided a very nice implementation that I can use as a guide. Thank you!

Yes, this library needs extension points to implement such things like "aspects" wannabe.
