[Bug]: Search bar not working anymore

Current Behavior

I type in the cn=Firstname in the search bar as described here: #403 (comment)

I get a list of entries, none of them matching my query.

Expected Behavior

I double checked that there is an entry that matches but I can't find it via search.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Type cn in search bar
2. Select cn field from results
3. After cn=, add firstname
4. See no matching result

As per the graphic you posted, CN is not an attribute that supports Substring searching - so the search reverts to cn=* - the first comment in the graphic RESULT(NO SUB SEARCH): [CN=*]

Is there any documentation on how this search works? What fields support substring searching etc? In it's current form it's really frustrating to use.

Searching is handled by the LDAP server, so you probably need to look at your server and/or your schema.

LDAP attributes that support "substring" searching define a SUBSTR attribute, and is shown in the schema browser as Substring Rule - uid is one such example. cn does not define a SUBSTR, so internally I change any searching to a wildcard so that some results come in.

However, I do see that even though an attribute doesnt defined a SUBSTR, that a "starts with" and "ends with" search should still work, so I'll fix that.
