Unable to upgrade Tone1 board firmware in Debian bookworm 

Following the described firmware upgrade for Tone1 board in Linux, I get the following error when running 'sudo ./INSTALL';
"$ cat: /etc/lsb-release: No such file or directory"
I do have lsb-release intalled in Debian. However, this file is not available in the specified directory withing the INSTALL script.
Any help would be welcome. Thank you in advance.
