I’ve been using GitHub Copilot for some Alibaba Cloud coding, configuration, and troubleshooting tasks.
Copilot is usually able to generate a useful starting point, but I still want to verify cloud-specific facts before using the generated code. Details such as API endpoints, supported regions, available models, SDK parameters, quotas, prices,
and error codes can change over time.
Alibaba Cloud also has separate China and International documentation sites. An answer can look correct while referencing the wrong site, especially when regions, endpoints, pricing, or product availability differ.
I recently tried an Agent Skill called
alibabacloud-help-doc-searchto add current Alibaba Cloud documentation to my Copilot workflow.Installation
I installed the Skill with:
The Skill is available here:
https://github.com/aliyun/alibabacloud-aiops-skills/tree/master/skills/others/cseskillshub/alibabacloud-help-doc-search
How I use it with GitHub Copilot
For Alibaba Cloud International, I explicitly specify the documentation site and language:
For an OSS permissions task:
For a code change, I can ask Copilot to verify the documentation first:
The important scope for International documentation is:
For China-site documentation, the default is:
What I found useful
The main benefit was not simply getting another generated answer.
It gave me a way to verify:
llms.txtindex, or both.The Skill combines:
llms.txtindex search;A search result can include information like:
{ "product": "Object Storage Service", "title": "Bucket Policy", "url": "https://www.alibabacloud.com/help/en/oss/user-guide/oss-bucket-policy/", "source": "both", "site": "intl", "lang": "en" }Here,
source=bothmeans the document was found through both full-text search and thellms.txtindex.This is useful when Copilot is generating code that depends on current cloud-product behavior rather than only general programming knowledge.
Where it helps in my workflow
I find it particularly useful for tasks involving:
For example, instead of asking Copilot:
I can make the verification requirements explicit:
That makes it easier to review both the generated implementation and the documentation behind it.
Read-only behavior
The Skill only searches and reads public documentation.
It does not create, modify, or delete Alibaba Cloud resources. Any code or configuration changes suggested by Copilot can still be reviewed before they are applied.
Final thoughts
For me, the useful part is adding a documentation-verification step to the development workflow:
This is more reliable than generating cloud-specific configuration from model knowledge alone.
If you use GitHub Copilot for Alibaba Cloud development or troubleshooting, the Skill may be worth trying:
I’d be interested to hear whether documentation-backed answers improve accuracy in other GitHub Copilot cloud-development workflows.
