Thanks for the report. One immediate suspect is that the 2.6 release worked a bit differently from 2.5: the latter (and those before it) were done from an open PR, per https://data-apis.org/array-api-strict/releasing.html, while for 2.6 we merged the PR and then pushed the tag to trigger the trusted publishing. No idea if it's related.

Meanwhile there's a non-zero probability we'll need a relatively quick fixup release (cf
#219), so hoping problem is indeed due to the order of merging and tagging, we'll need to make sure we follow the procedure which worked previously.
