Describe the bug

I have Darktable 5.4.1 on Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS which has been working well for several weeks. Today I have tried to import some new images using my normal method but it crashes without creating the appropriate import directory. I tried using a new workspace and a memory workspace and the same thing happens.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start darktable
  2. import- copy & import
  3. select SD card as source
  4. Doesn't matter if you select a job name or not - typically I do.
  5. base filmroll directory is /media/steve/T7 Primary/photo
  6. filmroll name is $(EXIF.YEAR)/$(EXIF.MONTH)/$(EXIF.YEAR)-$(EXIF.MONTH)-$(EXIF.DAY) $(JOBCODE)
  7. Importing only new files (650 already imported)
  8. Keep original filename
  9. click copy and import
  10. Darktable crashes and closes
  11. Directory is not created
  12. On reload former Import job name has returned ( parameter not saved)
