Does not work with current Angular/npm releases (2018-01-10)

Hi,
I am trying to run this example with current Angular/npm (npm version 5.5.1) releases.
Can you please update this example?
This tutorial was one of the simple yest detailed one I found so far and it's shame I cannot figure out how to update this.

workaround: removing "tsc &&" from the "start" script ...
