  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: Yes -- issue present in both stable and beta channels for the last few weeks
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

On Steam Deck startup, successfully entering the PIN blanks the input (filled bullets become hollow again) without any error message, requiring it to be submitted a second time. Entering it a second time unlocks the device as normal.

No error is shown on the first success, unlike an incorrect attempt which correctly shows a warning as normal. Entering the PIN successfully after an incorrect attempt still resets the screen.

Resuming from sleep doesn't require a second PIN entry. Switching from Desktop Mode back to Gaming Mode does require a second entry.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Boot, reboot, or switch to Gaming Mode
  2. Enter PIN successfully
    • PIN screen continues to show, input reset
  3. Enter PIN successfully again
    • UI progresses to Loading user data... / home screen
