[ENHANCEMENT] New Subtask Display

When a subtask is being executed, change the "Next" button to "Show subtask" or highlight "View Task" with color, as it is currently barely visible. It is particularly frustrating when the subtask is interrupted due to a question, but the parent task still displays "Next," leading to data loss.

Note: I am not aware of a suitable title for this feature request, so I am open to suggestions.

Note 2: There are other feature request which could have what I suggested as part. But my feature request could be done by simply changing the color of "View Task", which would be a quick win to user-friendliness.

I've seen your comment and will explore a potential fix. The idea is to make the "View Task" button more visually prominent when a subtask is active, so users don't accidentally miss it. I'll open a PR to share progress.

I've analyzed this issue and here's my proposed implementation plan:

Problem: When a subtask is actively running, the parent task's UI is confusing in two ways:

1. The "View task" link (to navigate to the active subtask) uses text-vscode-descriptionForeground styling, making it barely visible
2. The parent task's action buttons (e.g. "Approve", "Next") remain visible even when a subtask is actively running, which can lead to accidental interaction and data loss

Proposed changes:

1. Make the "View task" / "Go to subtask" link more prominent in webview-ui/src/components/chat/ChatRow.tsx (lines 874-881 and 1034-1041):

   • Change the subtle text link to a styled button with accent color (e.g. text-vscode-textLink-foreground or similar) so it stands out visually
   • This is the "quick win" the issue author mentions

2. Show a "Show subtask" button when a subtask is actively running in webview-ui/src/components/chat/ChatView.tsx:

   • When currentTaskItem?.awaitingChildId is set (parent is delegated to a subtask), override the primary button to show "Show subtask" instead of the regular action button
   • Clicking it would navigate to the active subtask via showTaskWithId
   • This prevents accidental clicks on "Approve"/"Next" that could cause data loss while a subtask is in progress

3. Add i18n keys for new button text (e.g. chat:subtasks.showActiveSubtask) in all locale files under webview-ui/src/i18n/locales/

4. Add/update tests for the changed components

This approach addresses both the visibility concern (making "View task" links stand out) and the safety concern (preventing accidental parent-task actions while a subtask is running).

Opened a PR with my attempt at addressing this: #12359

The change makes the "View task" buttons more visually prominent by using the VSCode link color with a subtle background, padding, and font-medium weight -- turning them from barely visible text into proper button-like elements. Feedback welcome!

Thanks for the approval! I will now proceed with implementing the remaining part of the plan -- adding a "Show subtask" button that overrides the primary action button when a subtask is actively running. I will push updates to the existing PR #12359.

Updated PR #12359 with the second part of the plan: a "Show subtask" button now appears in the button bar when a subtask is actively running. If no other buttons are showing, it appears as the primary button; if action buttons are already present it appears alongside them as a secondary button. This should prevent accidentally interacting with the parent task while a subtask is in progress. All tests and checks pass. Feedback welcome!
