Are there plans and/or a timeframe for supporting Python 3.6 or newer?

Many AI libraries including Spacy for natural language processing rely on newer versions of Python. Python 3.6 was released in 2016

There's a lot of work going into supporting Python 3.6+, however it's very difficult.
You can take a look at the progress so far by looking at the docs where you can see the ticked boxes to see what's implemented.

The development for Python 3.6 is happening on the 3.6 branch.

The more contributors the better, right now the project is maintained by @BCSharp and @slozier (big shoutout to them!), though working with a big codebase like this isn't easy.

That's what I aimed to do with #1815 (and following PRs), to make it more welcoming to contributors that IronPython desperately needs.
