Minutes:

Attendees: @bettina-gier, @rswamina, @malininae, @bouweandela, @jlenh, @valeriupredoi

Content:

• @rswamina asks about finishing the CMIP7 recipes in the REF repository (ozone in esmvaltool needs to be merged, ENSO changes the REF needs to be adapted) @bouweandela suggests to keep an eye on the CMIP7 data to see when we can replace it with real one. Some things needs to be changed, e.g. in this file (https://github.com/Climate-REF/climate-ref/blob/b7927488a4557ac01388477642b495b9d333c165/packages/climate-ref-esmvaltool/src/climate_ref_esmvaltool/diagnostics/climate_at_global_warming_levels.py#L103) make a PR. Might need to fork due to no rights to push a branch
  • found some issues with some REF recipes, @jlenh will fix sea ice
• @malininae ERA5 grib data, regrid with ESMValTool, hr to daily, regridded data last year didn't fit previously regridded data downloaded in netcdf format. @bouweandela netcdf available online has been regridded by ECMWF to 0.25°x0.25°. Data that has been CMORized using recipe_daily_era5.yml should subsequently be used as project: OBS6 instead of project: native6, to avoid double CMORization. Automatic cmorization is under native6, ECMWF now also provides data in daily frequency.
• @malininae issue with ERA5 data: coord lat, lon, time; 2 years ago updated to adding an additional coord for finalized/prelim data, is this put into the core? @jlenh no, he's reformatting this all the time. We should fix this in the core
• @bettina-gier raised the question if we want to submit a proposal for holding a workshop using CMIP funds (https://airtable.com/app3hv2DY8rHf5SoC/pagC5hez6nsMY1gef/form)
• @valeriupredoi pixi to be discussed at workshop and helping with issues, talked about some package issues as well
• @jlenh asked if anyone did a server installation with pixi yet, @valeriupredoi says he did it on JASMIN and is willing to show it
• @bouweandela if you want to download CMIP7 with ESMValTool, you need to download the newest intake version and use the latest core development version, or manually change configuration file for CMIP7, also change for CMIP6 activity_id instead of activity_drs
