AAPT2 on aarch64: x86_64 ELF binary causes processDebugResources failure #370

Description

@Moirania

Environment

  • IDE: Android Code Studio v1.0.0+gh.r4
  • Package: com.tom.rv2ide
  • Device: vivo Y55s (6GB + 128GB)
  • Architecture: aarch64 (uname -m)
  • AGP: 9.3.0
  • Gradle: 9.5.0
  • compileSdk: 37
  • Kotlin: 2.3.10

Problem

processDebugResources fails every build with AAPT2 daemon startup error:

AAPT2 aapt2-9.3.0-15703166-linux Daemon #0: Unexpected error output:
.../aapt2-9.3.0-15703166-linux/aapt2: 1: Syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")")

Evidence

The cached aapt2 is a valid ELF binary, but its ELF header shows e_machine = 0x3e (EM_X86_64):

7f 45 4c 46 02 01 01 00 ...
03 00 3e 00 01 00 00 00 ...

The device is aarch64, so the IDE is using an x86_64 AAPT2 binary on an ARM64 device, leading to the shell error.

Steps already tried

  • Cleared / moved away Gradle transform cache
  • Removed com.android.tools.build:aapt2 cache
  • Rebuilt with --no-daemon
  • Reordered repositories to official google() first

Expected

Android Code Studio should provide or correctly select an aarch64 AAPT2 binary on ARM64 devices.
